If you know me well, you are probably aware I read all sorts of stuff, much of it garbage;) However, I do try and save little pearls of wisdom that I think may help my clients in some way.

This week I was reading about Rick Rubin.

For those of you who don’t know him, MTV named him the most important producer of the past 20 years. He was one of catalysts in making Hip Hop mainstream , ie making it ok for us white dudes to listen to it!

Rick has worked with everyone from Johnny Cash to Lady Gaga.  Artists include Jay-Z, Adele, Eminem, Metallica, Kanye, Beastie Boys, Black Sabbath, Slayer and Rage Against the Machine to name a few.

Professionally, he is best known for his ability to get the most out of the artists he is working with. Being able to help and progress them through “Writers Block” and keep morale high.

What can we take from Rick?

“I would simply ask them to think of one word they like, one small word. Just something small and bring it to the studio the next day”

Things snowball when we just do something, even the smallest step can become huge.

How Can this Help you?

The best in the world have times of low motivation so its ok for you too.

When you feel flat, cold, dont want to turn up to training or go for a jog, Simply turn up with the intention of 5mins or 15 MEPS. If you really want to leave after that you can, but most of the time it will snowball to something bigger, a productive session.

Go and do good thing, enjoy your sunday.
